Warner is to become the first Australian distributor to release product simultaneously on disc, download and Pay Per View. In a ground-breaking decision announced today (April 21), the studio confirmed that the June release The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button will be the first Australian movie to be made available on rental and retail DVD, Foxtel Box Office, BigPond and iTunes all at the same time. Warner US has been championing the simultaneous release strategy in the US for some time, but until now the traditional window between DVD release and PPV has been maintained. Roger Clarke, Managing Director of Warner Bros. Home Entertainment Group Australia, says:

“This is a significant step in the development and growth of our industry in Australia, providing an important new opportunity to increase the audience for our content.”
